Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie's split may not eventually lead to reconciliation and won't be easily fixed as the former Disney star avoided his kiss when they went out for a birthday party along with their son, 2-year-old Luca.

In a series of photos by MailOnline, the two met up in Sherman Oaks, California on Saturday to attend a birthday party. When they were about to say goodbye, Mike Comrie puckered up for a kiss on the lips but Hilary Duff turned the other cheek and went up for a hug instead.

Although Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie split in January, the two have remained friends for the sake of their son.

In fact, PerezHilton reported that Mike Comrie was there when Hilary Duff was shooting for her new music video in Malibu. She was dressed in a black bikini and showing off her sexy figure.

Back in January, a rep for the actress confirmed the Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie split in a statement sent to media outlets: "They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."

Duff also posted a tweet on January 11: "Mike and I are sitting here, we are so appreciative for all of your kindness& well wishes. Not an easy day but we're getting thru it together."

According to TMZ, Duff and the former hockey player got hitched on in August 2010 in Santa Barbara. On March 20, 2012, Duff gave birth to their son, Luca. They started seeing each other in 2007.

Susan Duff, Hilary's mother, told TMZ that the couple already deciced to separate as long as they bring up Luca together. The mother said there's no love lost between Comrie and her family. "They're better friends than married couple," she said.

According to CelebrityDirtyLaundry, Hilary Duff is set to release her new single next week which is cut from her new album. The 26-year-old actress confirmed the news through a tweet: "Ooooh Yaaas Very excited to see everyone @MarqueeNY this coming Thursday!! Should be a good week mmmmhhhmmmm."
