K-Pop Girl Group Rainbow Brought Joy To The Philippines With Surprise Performance In Tacloban

K-pop girl group Rainbow visited fans in Tacloban, Philippines over the weekend.

The seven-member group performed at a nearby army base as part of the latest episode of MBC's military variety show, "Real Men."

The city of Tacloban is still currently recovering from the deadly typhoon that struck the region more than six months ago. In celebration of the successful construction of the Naka Naka Elementary School, the cast of hit Korean show, along with local soldiers, prepared an event for the residents of the city.

Rainbow made their appearance after the cast of "Real Men" joined locals for a dance number. The crowd reportedly went wild as the girls of Rainbow began their unexpected performance.

The members of Rainbow, Woori, Seungah, Jaekyung, Noeul, Yoonhye, Jisook and Hyunyoung, debuted back in 2009 under DSP Media with their EP titled "Gossip Girl." Two days after the release of their debut album, they made their television debut on the popular MBC music program "Show! Music Core."

Rainbow's most recent album was "Rainbow Syndrome," which was released in 2013 in two parts.

Since breaking into the K-pop industry, the girl group has gone on to win various awards, including the Rookie of the Month award at the Cyworld Digital Music Awards in 2010 as well as the Hallyu Icon Award at the 26th Golden Disk Awards in 2012.

Although the members of Rainbow have maintained their angel-like, pure image throughout their career, Hyunyoung revealed during an interview with Maxim Korea that the girls can sometimes be far from the public image they've created.

"Among the Rainbow members, there is a member who talks about erotic things at the level of a 25+ rating," revealed the idol member.

Although Hyunyoung didn't clarify exactly who the scandalous member of the group is, she did express that she has plans to prepare for a career outside of Rainbow in the near future, according to Allkpop.

"This year, I would like to try acting," stated the singer.
