Tina Fey And Alec Baldwin Remember Fellow ’30 Rock’ Star Elaine Stritch: Fey Says She Was A 'Tough Old Bird', Baldwin Takes To Twitter

Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin have remembered their fellow '30 Rock' co-star, Elaine Stritch, fondly after she passed away at her Michigan home last week. The 89-year-old actress and singer died after battling cancer.

Elaine Stritch was best known for her prolific work on Broadway and more recently '30 Rock', where she played the role of Colleen Donaghy, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin)'s bossy mother.

'30 Rock' creator and writer Tina Fey, who starred in the show as Liz Lemon, was quick to fondly recall the late actress.

"Elaine was a 'tough old bird,' but I suspect she may have been a 'tough old bird' since birth," Tina told PEOPLE. "I loved her voice, her timing, her stories and her natural elegance."

Tina Fey went on to describe Elaine Stritch's kindness and spontaneity.

"One day she was wearing a beautiful butterfly cocktail ring, and when I admired it, she gave it to me on the spot - like an Arab sheik in black pantyhose. I feel very lucky to have worked with her as much as I did."

Alec Baldwin also did not hesitate in farewelling his on-screen mother from '30 Rock', taking to Twitter to share his thoughts.

"I'm sure that even God is a bit nervous right now. I love you, Elaine," Alec tweeted from his @ABFalecbaldwin Twitter account.

The Twitter message followed a previous post from the actor, which read "A woman that I loved and admired, and a true one in a million, has gone to her rest."

As fans responded to Alec Baldwin's tributes to Elaine Stritch with numerous replies and retweets, the '30 Rock' star then posted a picture of himself and the actress.

"Thanks to all who took time to remember the one and only Elaine Stritch..." Alec posted with the Twitter snap.
