NBA Trade Rumors: Klay Thompson Still Not Included In Kevin Love Offer? The Golden State Warriors Will Regret Their Hesitation!

The NBA Trade Rumors will play the waiting game as Andrew Wiggins is in a 30 day trade moratorium upon being signed. This gives time for the other teams to think, plot and connive to acquire Kevin Love. One team that should be at the center of this activity seems oblivious: The Golden State Warriors.

Golden State has been on the fence, back and forth on whether they should let go of Klay Thompson. He seems to be the deal-breaker and Minnesota has made it clear-they will not release Love without getting Thompson back.

The Warriors should be thankful. Most teams would've jumped on the Wiggins-centered Cavaliers offer instead of holding out. Andrew Wiggins has been on the radar since he was 13 years old! Teams have sacrificed their entire season to get a shot at Wiggins. Just ask the Philadelphia 76ers. Yet, even with the Cavaliers mortgaging their future by taking on bad contracts while giving away the most hyped rookie since LeBron James himself, the Warriors still have a window.

But the Warriors are not even looking. From USA Today:

"Their recent refusal to include guard and Timberwolves target Klay Thompson in the deal is rooted in this reality, as losing Thompson would not only leave Curry overexposed defensively in the backcourt but is compounded by the fact that Love - much like incumbent power forward David Lee, who would head to Minnesota if this deal got done - isn't exactly known as a two-way player."

While valuing the defense is a sound idea, many believe that in the long run, the Warriors will look back on this opportunity with regret. Even in the contest of playing with Stephen Curry, Kevin Love offers options that his 'Splash Brother' cannot. From SI.com:

"Curry needs creative help, which only makes the divide between Thompson and Love all the more glaring. Thompson had 75 percent of his field goals set up for him with an assist last season. Love led a limited roster to a top-10 offense, somehow more efficient than that of the Warriors. That said, the distinction between the two goes beyond numbers to a matter of class: Love is a broader threat and a more natural offensive fit alongside Curry, capable of elevating Golden State to magnificent heights."

The Golden State Warriors are a very good team as it is. We can see the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' argument. But the teams of the West are GREAT, not good. The San Antonio Spurs set the bar in the Finals and the Warriors as currently constructed will not reach it. Kevin Love might have been the best change they could make now, and they passed on it.
