K-Wave Stateside: K-Pop Stories In American News (Week Of July 21 - July 27, 2014)

News media Billboard featured an article regarding 4Minute celebrating their fifth anniversary. With this celebration, the girls released a music video titled, "Thank You" to thank their fans. Usually, when artists reach their five year anniversary, they stop promotions and releasing new singles. Though, 4Minute fans does not need to worry because the beautiful ladies will keep releasing new singles and are not going to stop performing to their supportive fans. The article further explained about 4Minute's hit singles as they went back to discuss the girls' hit singles.

The five singles covered were "Huh", "What A Girl Wants", "What's Your Name", "Volume Up", and "Whatcha' Doin' Today". For their single titled, "Huh", 4Minute showed their fierce side compared to the other female groups that showed a cute side. The year 2010 came and 4Minute showed their cute and sweet side as they released the single titled, "What a Girl Wants". On the music video, the ladies looked cute as they wore school girl outfits. For their single on 2013 titled, "What's Your Name", the ladies showed their hip-hop style and had lots of fun when they were promoting this single.

On the year 2012, the ladies told their fans to turn their "Volume Up". For this single, the concept was dark as they showed their matured side. For the imagery, it was dark as Gayoon held a boa constrictor and Sohyun sang while holding a skull in her hand. Including the dark imagery in the music video, the members were very touchy, according to Popdust. Lastly, their recent single released was "Whatch Doin' Today?" The ladies had lots of fun with this track because it showed each of the girls' talent. Including the talent, 4Minute mixed various elements to the music video; which definitely showed how great the girls are.

Big Bang's G-Dragon Received Racist Remarks

News media Popdust featured a report regarding Big Bang member G-Dragon and how he received racist comments from a bystander when he was attending the Yves St Laurent show at Paris Fashion Week last month. Some of the comments were "ching chong" and "ni hao". Highly preposterous considering that G-Dragon is Korean and not Chinese. The article also explained regarding how Girls' Generation received racist comments when they won at the YouTube Music Awards; which many people took to SNS and wrote, "ching ching", according to Popdust.

Girl's Day Tops The Chart for This Week

News media Popdust featured an article regarding the beautiful ladies of Girl's Day as they have released a fresh summer single titled, "Darling." With their single and popularity, the girls has removed A Pink's Eunji and Huh Gak from the podium. Girl's Day is now number one for this week. For Eunji and Huh Gak's single titled, "Break Up To Make Up", they drop to number four.

The article goes on to explain regarding where some of your idols rank this week. Ranking number six is Beenzino as he raps with his new single titled, "How Do I Look". Ranking number seven are B1A4 as they are wowing their fans with their new single titled, "Solo Day."

Energetic Block B has hit the "Jackpot" as they rank number ten this week. This single from them was released on the month of April and Block B fans are loving the track. Currently, the guys are promoting their new single titled, "H.E.R". Since f(x) is no longer promoting their single titled, "Red Light", their track has dropped to number twelve after ranking number two last week.

Super Junior M member Henry is proving that he is indeed "Fantastic" as he ranks number seventeen this week. With this ranking, Henry is feeling good because it is a high chart ranking compared to his previous single titled, "1-4-3, I Love You".

The ladies of MAMAMOO are rookies, though they are proving to the K-pop fans that they are great because their new single titled, "Mr. Ambiguous" ranks number twenty-four this week.

Lastly, T-ara member Hyomin is showing her "Nice Body" as she ranks number forty this week. Even though her body is nice, Hyomin is not complacent on where she ranks.

SISTAR Released Their New Single That Sounds A Lot Like HyunA's single titled, "Bubble Pop"

News media Popdust featured an article regarding how SISTAR's new music video titled, "Touch My Body" has a sound resemblance to HyunA's single titled, "Bubble Pop". The difference when it comes to SISTAR's new single is that it is louder, bigger, and sexy, according to Popdust. SISTAR's new track is a upbeat tempo and remix version of HyunA's single titled, "Bubble Pop".
