New information about the Minecon 2014 might probably be announced after the release of Minecraft 1.8 Update.

So far, the only known detail for Minecon 2014 is that its location will be set in Europe. The info about the Minecon 2014 location was hinted by Lydia Winters, Mojang's Director of Fun, via a Twitter post, as a response to another Twitter user.

Aside from this hint about the Minecon 2014 location, Mojang has not revealed any official detail yet about the upcoming 4th all-things Minecraft event.

However, as posted on Mineconiw.com, Mojang might release new information about Minecon 2014 shortly after the launch of MInecraft 1.8 update, which is most likely to arrive in the coming weeks.

The post reads:

Hello fellow Minecraftians, as you know every Minecon has been themed by the newest release of Minecraft. The theme for 2013 was the 1.6 release. Adding horses and new redstone tools. As you also know, Mojang will be releasing Minecraft 1.8 soon (Most likely in the new few weeks). Adding new blocks and bunnies! The Minecon information you have been waiting for will most likely be released shortly after the 1.8 update! The wait is almost over!

The website's estimated date for Minecon 2014 is November 1 and 2, based on the schedule of previous Minecon events.

Meanwhile, a report on Ecumenical News noted that Mojang is already in its polishing stages for Minecraft 1.8 Update. Mojang also released a new snapshot to fix various bugs and bring in more optimization features in the open-world of Minecraft.

The next big update, Minecraft 1.8 is expected to offer new terrain generation options that can be fully controlled by players.
