Girl's Generation Sets The Girl Group Record For Topping The Japan Oricon Weekly Chart For The Third Time

Girls' Generation is dominating the music industry in Japan.

The K-pop girl group topped the Oricon Weekly Chart for the third time with their album "THE BEST."

The idol group's latest album was popular from the day of its release, selling 705,000 copies on day one.

"Girls' Generation became the only Asian girl group that made three consecutive #1 debuts on Oricon Chart," wrote Japan's Oricon on their official website, according to the publication Yahoo Entertainment Singapore.

"THE BEST" includes hits from Girls' Generation's past albums such as "GENIE," "Gee," "Mr. Taxi," "Galaxy Supernova," "Beep Beep," "Paparazzi," "FLOWER POWER," the Japanese version of "Mr. Mr" and the group's new ballad number called "Indestructible."

Billboard advertisements of Girls' Generation's new album will be posted in various areas in Japan, including Ginza, Shinjuku, Ikebukuor, O-otemachi, Akihabara, Rotbbongi, Ebis and Yurakcho areas of Tokyo until August 3, according to StarN.

This isn't the first time the nine-member group topped charts in Japan. They previously topped the charts in 2011 with their album "GIRLS' GENERATION" as well as last year with their album "LOVE & PEACE."

The members of Girls' Generation recently marked another milestone in their careers with their music video "I Got A Boy" hitting the 100 million-views mark on YouTube.

The video was also picked for the Video of the Year award at last year's first ever YouTube Music Awards, according to PopDust.

SM Entertainment's popular girl group will be celebrating their seventh year anniversary next month. The girls have already begun celebrating their upcoming anniversary with a cake, which member Sooyoung shared on her Instagram account last week with the caption, "See you tomorrow ^^ #sone #Girls'Generation."

As popular as they are in Korea, member Tiffany revealed to Billboard last year that her favorites are the group's Japanese albums.

"Based on my personal taste, our Japanese albums are some of my favorites," stated the idol member.
