Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: The Xperia Z3 Compact Will Follow On His Predecessor's Footsteps, Packs Flagship Specs In Midget Size

One of the most awaited upcoming Sony phones for 2014 will be the Xperia Z3 Compact. And in recent reports in the past couple of weeks, the new 'mini' flagship has been leaked with its bigger sibling, the new Sony Xperia Z3 flagship.

Fortunately, the Xperia Z3 Compact will likely follow suit of its predecessor, the Xperia Z1 Compact.

A few weeks after Sony unleashed its Xperia Z1 last year, there were reports that the Japanese manufacturer will launch a 'mini' version a la Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and HTC One mini. The device first launched in Japan as the Xperia Z1f, while China got it several weeks later as the Xperia Z1s.

During the CES event in Las Vegas earlier this year, Sony unveiled the Xperia Z1 Compact, the international version of the device, and it packs almost identical specs to the original flagship save for the lower resolution.

However, the Xperia Z3 Compact, one of the upcoming Sony phones for 2014, will get the same resolution as the rumored Xperia Z3 which will include a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 801 chipset.

In the leaked images, the Xperia Z3 will finally shed the huge bezels from yesteryears and come with thinner bezels which will make the phone really compact to look and hold.

Like previous Sony flagships, the 4.6-inch device will boast a 20.7MP G Lens sensor from Sony, a glass frame, but this time more rounded edges for easier grip. Ever since the images and specs of the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact were leaked, a lot of people have begun to question whether Sony is running out of design options, as well as things to improve in the specs category.

But unless we hear it officially from Sony, let's all take these details with a pinch of salt.

Both the Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact are expected to make their debuts at the IFA event in Berlin on September 5-10.
