'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' And How It's Dealing With Philip Seymour Hoffman's Death; Effie Trinket To Deliver Lines Of Plutarch Heavensbee?

The newly released 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay' trailer featured the reassuring voice of Philip Seymour Hoffman who unfortunately wasn't able to finish filming when he passed away last February. In the trailer, his character Plutarch Heavensbee is in the middle of discussion with District 13's President Alma Coin.

While President Coin believes that the trauma Katniss acquired will impede her from becoming a symbol of hope, Plutarch believes that the Girl on Fire can still become the face of rebellion. Since Plutarch plays a pivotal role as one of the leaders of the revolt, fans wondered what would happen to his character when Seymour Hoffman died.

Director Francis Lawrence said that as opposed to what others thought, they would not resort to using computer-generated imagery for Plutarch.

"We finished the majority of his work. I think he might have had 8 to 10 days left on our schedule. In most of those scenes, Phil didn't have any dialogue. We are going to put him into those scenes, but we're only using real footage. We're not creating anything digital or a robotic version of him," he previously told Hunger Games Exclusive.

Meanwhile, producer Nina Jacobson said that some of the Head Gamemaker's lines might be given to other characters specifically Haymitch or Effie but only if they would not "undermine the intent of the scene."

Lawrence further explained that Plutarch would have been an important point in 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay' because of his sense of humor and the way he maneuvers things.

Effie will shine in the film as confirmed by the creative team. In the 'Mockingjay' book, Fulvia has replaced the fashionable and perfectionist character but that wouldn't be the case in the film.

"In the book, Fulvia basically replaces her. But how can anybody replace Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket in these movies? When Suzanne Collins saw 'Catching Fire,' she called and one of the first things she said was, 'There's no way Effie Trinket cannot be in the 'Mockingjay' films.' Effie brings such warmth and fun and levity to these dark stories. She's the fish out of water in this one and fans will love how she adapted to the world of District 13," explained Jacobson to the website.

She adds that what's nice about Effie is that even if she dislikes the revolution, she still aspires to help: "She has to be convinced to help, and she helps for personal reasons, not for political reasons."

'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' will come out on November 21. Its second part will follow a year after.
