‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Spoilers: Ian Somerhalder Teases ‘Reboot’ After Premiere Date, Says Damon And Bonnie On Other Side Is A ‘Great Thing’

Ian Somerhalder revealed new "Vampire Diaries" season 6 spoilers, teasing a "reboot" to the CW series is coming after the premiere date. Ian Somerhalder even admitted that he thinks Damon and Bonnie on the Other Side is a "great thing" for "Vampire Diaries" season 6. Read on for more spoilers!

"These storylines have been told over the course of five years, the dynamics are changing - it's sort of a reboot," Ian Somerhalder told HitFix about "Vampire Diaries" season 6.

Sounds like we're in for a big change after the premiere date, which is October 2, 2014.

"By virtue of the dynamics created by the molding of different characters, I think it's going to be very interesting and it's been a long time coming," Ian teased about the upcoming season. "In regards to Bonnie and myself being on that Other Side, it's a great thing."

We're glad Ian is excited about Damon being on the Other Side in "Vampire Diaries" season 6 - that makes one of us.

As we previously reported, Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan Salvatore on "The Vampire Diaries," spoke to TV Guide about the changes that will come next season.

"[The finale] definitely establishes new parameters in the environment we'll be shooting in Season 6," Paul Wesley said. "They reset things in a way, and the writers have the ability to now change the circumstances and locations of where the show takes place."

Meanwhile, executive producer Caroline Dries sat down with Alloy Entertainment to spill the details on what to expect with Caroline and Stefan's relationship after our favorite blonde vampire unexpectedly snapped Luke's neck.

"Caroline, as we know, doesn't like not being in control of things and with Stefan's death and Bonnie's prediction about her own fate, Caroline was feeling helpless and out of control. So that vicious move was pure emotional desperation," Dries said.

"Her feelings for Stefan are (at the conscious level right now) friend feelings. I personally feel like she's not quite sure what she's feeling. It's all types of confusing. Lots of grey area: Stefan is her friend. Elena loved Stefan. Elena's her best friend. Kind of a no-fly zone, which is why I think that if she has had any more-than-friend feelings she's pushed them away or convinced herself otherwise. The feelings behind the feelings are something we get to explore in season 6 as we watch how her relationship with Stefan plays out in the wake of the finale.

"Any time we turn a character dark it's fun because it's a change of pace for the writers, actors and viewers. It'd be interesting to see a darker Caroline but we would only go down that road if it felt 100 percent earned."
