Upcoming HTC Phones 2014: This New Version Of The One M8 Is Better Than The Original, Gets 13MP Shooter With Depth Sensor, Waterproof Body

Ever since the HTC One M8 was launched earlier this year, a number of upcoming HTC phones for 2014 have also made their way to the market.

Some of these Android-powered handsets include the One mini 2 midranger, and the flagship level One E8 which packs a plastic body instead of the One M8's aluminum casing.

Now, it looks like the HTC flagship will get another version, this time coming from Japanese local carrier KDDI.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the upcoming HTC phone is named as the newest version of J Butterfly and is now available in Japan.

In the report, the J Butterfly gets most of the specs and design features of the flagship One M8, though it offers a lot more features and better specs than the original.

The J Butterfly will pack a waterproof body, which is non-existent in the current flagship, and should be a tough match for other waterproof devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2. As a result of the waterproof frame, the BoomSound speakers were replaced by smaller speaker.

However, it was replaced by a JBL in-ear headset that will come with the HTC smartphone out of the box.

The camera department has also been ramped up, improving from the 4MP UltraPixel sensor to a 13MP rear camera which we assume is powered by optical image stabilization. The secondary depth sensor at the upper part of the primary camera is still present.

In front is still the 5MP secondary snapper, which is certainly a must-have if you are a fan of selfie and groupie shots.

As for the primary specs, the J Butterfly has identical specs to the HTC One M8 which include a 5-inch display with Full HD resolution, 2GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, 32GB of internal memory, LTE support and a microSD card slot.

Given the specs of the J Butterfly, one of the upcoming HTC phones for 2014 in Japan, we are pretty sure a lot of Android fans would want to pick it instead of the company's current flagship. We just hope it will arrive in international markets as well.
