Kerry Washington revealed the meaning of her baby's name to Jimmy Kimmel during her appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Thursday. She told Kimmel why she chose the name "Isabelle" for her first child, a daughter with husband Nnamdi Asomugha.

"I can't believe you had a baby and you look like this!" Kimmel complimented the "Scandal" season 4 actress, E! News reports. "It's against the rules!"

"Aw, you're kind. You're such a good friend!" the 37-year-old actress said. "You just had a baby!"

"Well, my wife went and had this one," he joked. "Thank you and congratulations as well."

"Your baby's name is Isabelle and mine is Jane," Kimmel added. "We should swap them and see if our families notice!"

"I heard that your baby is named after your grandmother," Washington continued. "Mine is too! So we could swap them."

There ya have it, folks! Kerry Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha named their baby daughter Isabelle, after Kerry's grandmother. What a sweet meaning behind the name choice!

ABC News also noted that during her pregnancy, Kimmel sent the "Scandal" season 4 actress a shipment of barbecue from La Barbecue in Austin, Texas.

"There's nothing more kind to do for a pregnant lady than [sending her] a box full of frozen deliciousness," Washington said. "It was amazing."

Kerry and former NFL player, Nnamdi Asomugha, married in secret on June 24, 2013. Kerry, 37, and Nnamdi, 33, welcomed baby daughter Isabelle Amarachi in May.

"Scandal" season 4 premieres on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
