A.KOR Alienates 2NE1 Fans With Kemy's Park Bom Diss Track

Within a few weeks of debuting, rookie group A.KOR has already gained infamy thanks to rapper Kemy.

On August 1, a diss track by the rapper was uploaded on YouTube that clearly alluded to Park Bom's recent drug scandal. From the translated lyrics, listeners can see references to record label YG Entertainment, Park Bom's reality series "Roommate" as well as several of 2NE1's singles like "MTBD," "Can't Nobody," "Clap Your Hands" and "Come Back Home."

Within a few days, the video has garnered over half a million views along with overwhelmingly negative comments.

"Kemy, congratulations, you will forever be known as the rude girl who dissed another well-known K-Pop artist just because you are fame hungry," commented Nessy Mathew on YouTube.

"This isn't a diss track," wrote Seleena Valle on August 3. "It's just a 'real rapper' trying to get attention in any possible way to have her five seconds of fame. You wouldn't post this rap just on a whim. You knew that you would get hate but at least people are paying attention."

"Once this scandal blows over, so will you and your group."

At the same time, some observers believe this is simply the traditions of the underground rap scene colliding with mainstream K-pop.

"Oh dear, the Korean rap scene has bled over into K-pop again," wrote Lextube. "Don't worry your little hearts, it's just a diss track, and frankly a very good one at that. If she was looking for reputation in the Korean rap scene, she just got it by the bucket load."

"This girl is an underground rapper and they make diss tracks all the time about idols," added Simi Oludayo. "It's not something to get upset about. The abuse this girl is getting (she's fifteen by the way) just proves that fans of K-pop idols are really crazy."
