Listen To Stevie Nicks's New Imagining Of The Late '70s Fleetwood Mac Outtake 'The Dealer' [VIDEO]

Stevie Nicks has just released a new song, titled “The Dealer,” from her upcoming solo album, “24 Karats of Gold: Songs from the Vault.”

The upcoming album, out on October 7th, is Nicks’ first new album in three years. The former Fleetwood Mac front-woman penned the songs that will be featured on the record between 1969 and 1995.

The previously unreleased material from Nicks’ legendary career has been re-imagined and reworked with the help of producers Dave Stewart and Waddy Wachtel. Still, if “The Dealer” is a clear example of what’s to come, we should expect plenty of what we have come to love about Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac – themes of fate, love, heartbreak, and fear, delivered with a passionate edge known specifically to her.

In a Rolling Stones review of the exciting first release, the magazine called the tune “soulful and little twangy, with introspective lyrics sung delivered in her signature gorgeous, gravelly voice…The Dealer transports you back a few decades, and sounds like it could have been on one of her early solo albums, or a circa-1970’s Fleetwood Mac album.”

In a press release regarding the upcoming album, Nicks explained, “I used to make cassettes of my songs and hand them out. But to know that these songs have finally been recorded with the same love they were originally created is joyous for me. I picked 12 songs from about 40 demos made from ’69 – ’87 and one each from 94 and 95. These songs are all about love and heartbreak — how to pick up the pieces — how to keep moving… I’m really chronicling love from the very beginning."

Nicks shared the process of how she returned to her old work and came to love these past songs, saying, “When you write a song and it doesn’t go on a record, it floats around in your life for years. I took myself back to the time when these songs were written… Sometimes I can’t remember what happened yesterday but I remember so well what happened through the whole period of time that I wrote these songs. You think about them and go over them and they live inside of you until they becomes part of your world. These songs are now 24 Karat Gold.”

The famous songstress also added that she had a lot of help from some particular Nashville musicians, who assisted in making the process of recording swift and successful. Nicks’ raved, “The only way this would have been possible was because of the amazing ‘Nashvillians’ as I named the brilliant musicians we worked with in Nashville. They were a great band — tantamount to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers… We were awestruck just watching them. We had two weeks to lay down the tracks… This was going to be a fast moving train… That is how we roll and that IS how we rolled!! And we did it.”

It is clear from ‘The Dealer’ that Stevie is back with the same talent as ever before, still rocking out with the passion she had in the prime Fleetwood Mac days.
