Girls' Generation-JYJ Rank 1 And 2 Consecutively On Japan Oricon Weekly Chart

Fans in Japan have been all about K-pop as of late.

Popular K-pop idol group Girls' Generation and boy group JYJ have continued to dominate music charts in Japan with the release of their recent albums.

Japanese music chart Oricon revealed today that Girls' Generation's new album "THE BEST," which is a compilation of their hit tricks, is still sitting at No. 1, selling a total of 301,477 copies. "THE BEST," which was released last month, topped the Oricon chart for the past two weeks.

Girls' Generation is no stranger to topping the charts in Japan, or any country for that matter. The nine-member girl group topped the Oricon music chart three times before, but this is the first time they'd kept their No. 1 spot for two consecutive weeks.

This is the second time that a Korean artist has accomplished this feat after BoA back in 2004.

As if they're not big enough, Girls' Generation announced that they would be releasing a new photo book called "Girls' Generation in Las Vegas." The photo book will be filled with pictures of the girls partying and shopping in Las Vegas, according to the publication StarN.

The photo book will be released on August 25.

JYJ's album "Just Us" has also become a hit, sitting at No. 2 on the Japanese music chart after selling 106,866 copies in the first week of its release.

Along with the success of their album, JYJ is making sure to give back to fans for their ongoing support. The trio recently wrapped up their event, "2014 JYJ Membership Week," which was held at COEX C& D Halls in Seoul, Korea from July 31 until August 3.

Approximately 18 thousand fans attended the event, according to a representative of the group's agency, C-JeS Entertainment.

The boys of JYJ were able to interact with fans throughout the event and also promote their new album through this event.

"We were very happy to meet our fans through another 'Membership Week,' and we hope to keep making such events in the future as well," JYJ members.
