Profile Of A K-Pop Fan: 21-Year-Old CNBLUE Fanatic Aileen Abejuela On How The Band Helped Mend Her Broken Heart

NAME: Aileen Abejuela

AGE: 21

HOME: Manila, Philippines

CURRENTLY: working in administration at University of Asia and the Pacific in Pasig City, Philippines

INTRO TO K-POP: "I was brokenhearted last year, feeling so lost and was looking for songs to ease my emotions," Abejuela recalled. "I needed a diversion for a better outlook in life." The 21-year-old Filipina had first discovered the music of South Korea a couple years previously. "When I was in high school, I had started to sing and dance to some K-pop songs."

THE DIFFERENCE: "K-pop songs have effects that are truly indescribable," Abejuela said. "You listen to K-pop, feel its essence and surrender to a wonderful sensation that you can't feel with other types of music. You might not understand the lyrics, but you still can comprehend what the song wants to convey. It brought me into a different dimension and I just really love it. For me, the difference from the pop music of other countries is, aside from the essence of the song, the way the artist sings or performs creates a deeper connection for the listener. It's addictive like a drug."

FAVORITE GROUP: CNBLUE

WHY CNBLUE ARE THE BEST: "Before I heard CNBLUE, I wasn't really into rock music or the other kinds of music they play," Abejuela said. "But when I was able to hear a couple of their songs, I became captivated with their music and the four members themselves. CNBLUE has greatly helped me in my everyday life. Going through the process of mending a broken heart became a smooth ride because of them. Each member has a great personality, which is really admirable. They are blessed with such incredible talents."

FAVORITE CNBLUE SONG: "Can't Stop"

WHY: "The song is so meaningful for me," Abejuela said. "It's something that inspires me to never stop dreaming and loving, as well as to make a better life every day with your loved ones."

FAVORITE SOLO ARTIST: Juniel

WHY: "She's so charming and all her songs really suit her well," Abejuela said. "I love singing her songs because they uplift my spirit. The melodies are lively and create a positive vibe as you sing them."

FAVORITE JUNIEL SONG: "Illa Illa"

FUTURE OF K-POP: "I'm just looking forward to more wonderful K-pop," Abejuela said. "I hope that K-pop artists will live passionately and that every masterpiece they produce will continue to touch the lives of people from all over the world."
