Group Boyfriend To Attend Japan's 'a-nation' Concert In Tokyo On August 17

Idol group Boyfriend will be attending Japan's biggest summer festival titled "2014 a-nation island powered by in jelly Asia Progress Departure" on August 17 in Tokyo.

Boyfriend will be taking the stage with other famous Japanese musicians and meet with a great number of fans.

For those who aren't familiar with "a-nation," the festival was started by one of Japan's biggest record labels, AVEX, and has held a concert event every year since 2002. 2014 marks the 13th year of the annual festival.

Boyfriend is expected to gain even more attention from local media by performing at this event.

"Boyfriend has been receiving a lot of attention overseas as of late. Their music has been getting a lot of positive responses in Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan and other countries," explained the K-pop band's management agency, Starship Entertainment.

The six-member boy group broke into the mainstream music industry in Japan back in 2012, a year after debuting. They group performed at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in December of that year and ranked high on the weekly Oricon charts with their single "Kimi to Dance Dance Dance/My LADY," according to the publication Music Japan Plus.

Boyfriend has made several milestones in its K-pop career in the year 2014. They became the first group ever to hold a solo concert in Puerto Rico. The boys performed for a total of 1,700 fans at the "Centro De Bella Artes Luis A Ferre," according to their Facebook page.

Boyfriend also switched things up by performing in Chicago and Dallas in March following their concert in Puerto Rico.

The members of Boyfriend made their long-awaited comeback in Korea in May of 2014. This comeback was different from anything fans had seen from the group thus far, as the boys donned suits, shedding their boy-next-door image.

Boyfriend has always been all about updating fans on their new material, according to Allkpop.

Earlier in the summer when the boys were about to make their comeback the boys posted individual selfies with captions including "Seems like the boys are coming back soon!"
