A British man faked his own death to avoid the wedding. Obviously he hasn’t heard of the saying “honesty is the best policy”. And that was after his fiancée went broke wedding planning. Let’s hope that she kept her engagement ring.

Tucker Blandford is his name, ladies. Make sure to keep him on your blacklist.

"I'm a terrible, awful person. I know I shouldn't have told her I was dead, but I didn't know what else to do,” Tucker said according to Yahoo! News. “Alex is an amazing girl, but I got scared and wanted to get out of the relationship."

Alex Lanchester, in the butt of this Internet joke, is rather heartbroken. “All I ever did was love him,” said Alex according to Standard Digital News. “After this I’m not sure I can trust a man ever again.”

Gentlemen, faking one’s death is not the way you get out of an engagement. If Rory McIlroy can pull it off, so can you.

Tucker Blandford, 23, met Alex Lanchester in August 2012 while studying abroad at a college in Connecticut.

"He was such a gentleman,” Alex reminisced, “He showered me with jewellery.”

They spent the year in a romantic blur. Tucker could have just done a long-distance relationship (like any sensible and terribly-in-love male would do), but no, he had to propose to her.

According to Standard Digital News, Alex reminisced, "I said yes straight away. I was super happy and smiling like an idiot."

Knowing little about the planned fake death trick, Alex spent over $1,000 on wedding preparations when he got a phone call that her fiancée committed a suicide. Because he was so depressed.

She could have been smart and really looked into this issue, but of course grief the size of a Shakespearean tragedy blinded her. She only figured out Tucker’s fake death when she called his family.

What a douche.

But people move on. Alex has set up a wedding favors business and Tucker is traveling the U.S., probably avoiding Connecticut at all costs.

Be careful though. Alex may find a way to detain you at the border.
