CNBLUE Impress Malaysian Fans With Thrilling 2-Hour Performace

CNBLUE created a 'Blue Moon' phenomenon on their first visit to Kuala Lumpur last year, and on August 9, 2014, they stormed Malaysian soil once again with another head-banging show in their sophomore concert at Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

With a more solid and mature performance this time, they took the stage with Time is Over, a song that gave a strong message; chanting the lyrics I have grown stronger...Here I go, Here I stand this time. They continued to perform live with Diamond Girl and Intuition before greeting the audience with a more fluent Malay language.

Another galaxy of wilderness

Withering away from the cliché K-pop genre, the band continued their performance with another set of heavy rock tracks such as Robot, Lady and I'm Sorry with Yonghwa's vocal range screeching to another octaves. Not only that, with the help of red neon light shining across the stadium and fireworks, the fans' adrenaline were pumped up as it can be seen when they were jumping, dancing and singing along with CNBLUE.

Conversing like a true Malaysian

Last year, CNBLUE had surprised the audience and was praised on their ability to communicate in Malay (the national language of Malaysia). Their greetings in the country's national language was definitely beyond 'Apa Khabar' (Hello) and it was proven once again this year as the quartet conversed and communicated with fans in almost full and perfect Malay.

Jonghyun welcomed the fans with 'Selamat datang ke konsert kami. Semoga bergembira petang ini' (Welcome to our concert and let's enjoy the evening) enthralled the fans, as the lead guitarist had the reputation of being the more quiet one in the band, especially when it comes to speaking in foreign language.

Jungshin, who has been showing off his interest conversing in a foreign language, drew more thundering screams from the fans with 'Apa Khabar? Saya Jungshin. Rindu Kami? Kami pun rindu kamu' (How are you? I'm Jungshin. Did you miss us? We missed you too).

Sitting behind his gorgeous drum set did not stop Minhyuk to bewitch the fans when he greeted them with 'Apa Khabar? Saya Minhyuk. Selamat Berkenalan dan jumpa lagi. Aku cinta padamu' (Hello, I'm Minhyuk. It's nice to meet you again and I love you all).

What can we say about the lead vocalist, Yonghwa; any single word that came out from his mouth while conversing with fans, be it in Malay or English made the fans vociferous as the whole stadium cheered the band throughout the 2-hour concert.

Morphing of the tracks from the studio version

Listening to CNBLUE tracks on your music device was not enough because the band will definitely breathe a new version and a more dynamic resonance when they perform each tracks live on their concert. From the pulsate of Jonghyun's electric guitar coupled with Yonghwa's melodious keyboard to Jungshin's solo bass rhythms and Minhyuk's drum beats; the harmonious rhapsody sailed through the heart, mind and soul of each and every fans who attended the concert.

The metamorphosis of the songs such as These Days, My Miracle and Blind Love from the studio version to Live, insinuate the band's genius musical arrangement, giving a new spectrum and a more colourful performance. With Cold Love, by listening the studio version gave a heart wrenching feeling of your heart suddenly stopped by the cold love and the love that is sick, CNBLUE gave a more rebellious and fighting tune when chanting 'My heart stop at this cold love, my heart break into pieces'.

Looks like the boys are getting more mature at handling break-ups now.  In addition, I'm A Loner and Coffee Shop enlivened the fans as Jungshin and Jonghyun showing off their free guitar skills and a more reggae-ish musical arrangement while introducing the songs, together with Yonghwa's free rapping.

Unique Fans' project

What is a concert without fan's support and projects, right? Quoting Mozart, 'Melody is the essence of music'; same goes to CNBLUE and BOICE (CNBLUE's fan club). If CNBLUE is the music, BOICE is the melody that supports the harmony of the music. The fans have prepared unique projects especially for the 'Can't Stop Malaysia tour'.

After a short jingle about Malaysia by Yonghwa, the fans held a smiley lip-shape paper cutout to signify the fans' beautiful smile and happiness listening to CNBLUE songs. When Yonghwa's beautifully played to the beat of Can't Stop, fans are ready with another beautiful project of theirs, they held a hexagon-shaped cardboard which read 'CNBLUE CAN'T STOP, BOICE NEVER STOP' as both the fans and the band together sing to the lyrics of Can't Stop. It was like a mass declaration between CNBLUE and their beloved fans that they can't stop loving each other.

Malaysia is in our head

A total of 24 songs were successfully performed that night with Wake Up, L.O.V.E Girl, and Love Light as the encore songs. At the start of the encore, CNBLUE once again prove that their skills work well together when the set was started off with Minhyuk's drum beats, followed by Jonghyun's guitar rhythms, Jungshin's bass sounds and capped off by Yonghwa getting the hype up from the crowd.

It was truly great to see the boys of CNBLUE in Malaysia once again and it can be proven when the fans holding a sign 'It's really good to see you again' towards the end of the encore song. The quartet truly appreciates the fan's love and Malaysia is definitely in their head as Yonghwa's chanted 'Malaysia is in my head' during In My Head song.  Before they ended this 2-hour energetic show, the band thanked the fans and they hoped this visit will become the light that shine through the fans-from CNBLUE to you!
