Kara Fans Debate Youngji's Presence After The Release Of 'Mamma Mia'

Kara has made a comeback after another lineup change, and fans remain skeptical over the inclusion of new member Heo Youngji.

On August 17, Kara released the music video for their brand new single "Mamma Mia," and fans immediately began debating Youngji's presence, given she was only given one line in the entire song.

"If you look at the lyrics, Youngji literally has one line," commented Shanen Allawan on YouTube. "Seriously? Feels like a backup dancer wearing the same clothes as the 'Kara members.'"

"Youngji doesn't have that idol feeling the other members have and her having one line doesn't help it at all," wrote Voller InMe on August 19. "They could have release this as three members, wouldn't have changed anything."

Other Kara fans, however, disagree.

"Despite what everyone says, Youngji not only fits the group, her voice adds a stronger sound to the group as well," countered babyprincess3121.

"The new member is not shown as much because they know the fanbase will feel offended and betrayed that she is to replace some of the fans' number one," offered Omer Slezovic. "So they simply decided not to overexpose her while the fanbase will get used to her existence in the group. They will start exposing her more and more as the singles come."

"Mamma Mia" is a single off of Kara's new mini-album "Day & Night," released on August 18. The following day, the four-member group discussed their feelings on their new comeback during 1theK's "Ask In A Box."

"We're starting new, so we promise to work hard and try out best," said Goo Hara.

"I'll follow the other members and work hard too," added new member Youngji.
