Younha To Promote World Peace Second Year In A Row

Singer Younha has been chosen as the UN World Peace Day ambassador for her second year in a row.

Younha will attend a ceremony tomorrow where she'll officially be appointed as the ambassador and begin to promote world peace, according to the Korean publication Osen.

"I'm honored to be a part of UN's World Peace Day. I'll continue to work on further promoting world peace during my time as ambassador," stated the "Umbrella" singer.

UN World Peace Day is on September 21 every year. It's a day when war and violence around the world stops, and citizens from all around the world work to celebrate and strengthen peace.

Following her appointment ceremony, Younha will be attending the "World Peace Day" ceremony on September 21 at the Han River Park.

Younha has been in the entertainment industry for ten years now. She recently held a surprise performance at Yeoido Park where she performed her hit track "Umbrella," according to the publication eNews World.

"I was reminded of how happy I felt 10 years ago when people just stopped to listen to me as I sang on the streets and at cafes. It was like I had returned to those early days, and I feel more responsibility now that I know I'm being supported by so many people," Younha tweeted after the surprise event was over.

Younha's most recent hit "Umbrella" was gifted to her by hip-hop group Epik High's Tablo to congratulate her on her 10th anniversary as a singer.

Despite Younha's success, the singer recently revealed that she had suffered from a panic disorder for a year and a half before officially getting back on her feet.

"Because I suddenly took a break from the stage, I suffered from a panic disorder. I didn't go outside often and I disliked meeting people. Because I experienced bad events from being known to the public, I became even more depressed. I thought that I possibly couldn't sing anymore. When I was at my lowest point, the staff members who are beside me right now knew of my situation and told me, 'You are the best singer to me' and 'You can rise again' and encouraged my self-esteem that way," stated Younha, according to Allkpop.
