WINNER Takes Flight In Becoming Global K-Pop Stars

WINNER is making its way to the top of the K-pop world one step at a time.

The rookie group's debut album "2014 S/S" came in at No. 1 on Billboard's World Album Chart and ranked No. 6 on the Heatseekers Albums Chart, according to the publication Star N News.

After their years of hard work, the boys of WINNER are satisfied with the success of their recent debut.

"It's happy days for us," stated Kang Seung-yoon, the leader of YG Entertainment's new boy band.

WINNER's title track "Empty" has been getting as much attention as "2014 S/S" as the song debuted at No. 1 on various music charts in Korea, according to Yahoo Entertainment Singapore. The five-member idol group also debuted at No. 1 on the August 21 broadcast of Mnet's "M! Countdown."

The boy band has planned to give back to fans to thank them for their ongoing support, even holding a "WINNER DEBUT ALBUM 2014 S/S Release Autograph Event" at the Grand Ball Room of the Grand Hilton Hotel located in Seodagemun District of Seoul, according to the publication Yahoo Entertainment Singapore.

WINNER's success might have to do with the fact that the boys put a deeper meaning into the material they put out for fans.

"We want people to relate to our music, so they can be excited with upbeat songs or feel empathy through sad ones. We want our fans to relate to our songs, not only the melodies but the stories in them," stated Kang.

Two members of the group, Kang and Lee Seung-hoon, are graduates of the tough audition program "Super Star K2" and "K-Pop Star 2," according to the Korea Times.

"If you haven't experienced what we went through on 'Who is Next?' You really wouldn't know. I think that period was really tough. We put our life on stage to make it through that," stated Lee.

Nam Tae-hyun added, "We really wanted to become K-pop singer."
