An official divorce announcement from Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon may be coming soon. Cannon confirmed in an interview that he and the pop diva have been living separately for months. The ‘America’s Got Talent’ host denied that infidelity was the cause of the split, but according to insiders, his past involvement with Kim Kardashian was one of the most contentious issues the couple fought about. As for any statement regarding the legal status of the couple’s split, expect that to come from Carey’s camp. While Cannon is free to talk about their separate living arrangements, the couple reportedly has an agreement in place barring him from announcing the divorce.

There have been reports that the couple has been arguing viciously for months, and sources say one of the fighting only got worse after an interview Cannon did on Big Boy’s radio show. Big Boy had Cannon do an interview in which he was to name five celebrities he slept with. Apparently, of those he listed, one celeb in particular, Kim Kardashian, stuck out as a cause of tension between him and Carey. Sources say the singer was furious and humiliated. It has been widely reported that Carey has had trust issues regarding her husband. Some insiders have said she’s gone as far as to hire security guards to keep him away from other women when he is out hosting events.

Sources say the couple has already hammered out the terms of their divorce, covering every issue from child custody to dividing of assets. One of the top sticking points of the agreement is the gag order, preventing Cannon from discussing the divorce. Carey reportedly wants complete control over how, and when, the announcement is made. The singer makes a great deal more money than the comedian, which she presumably was able to use as leverage in making such a one-sided deal.
