The 'Ms Marvel/Captain Marvel' has yet to see a green light, but the rumor mill has already played the casting game as early as two years ago. Leading is the wish list is British actress Emily Blunt, but she is no longer alone.

Blunt is actually a long-time Marvel target. She was originally the first choice for the Black Widow role that went to Scarlett Johansson (which is just about right). Blunt is more open to action/science fiction movies and it's hard to say "no" to the studio that currently has the highest success rate.

Blunt told the Vulture earlier this year:

"Usually the female parts in a superhero film feel thankless: She's the pill girlfriend while the guys are whizzing around saving the world. I didn't do the other ones because the part wasn't very good or the timing wasn't right, but I'm open to any kind of genre if the part is great and fun and different and a challenge in some way. I would love to do a comic-book movie or a science-fiction film that would scare the bejesus out of me. Maybe I need to be James Bond! I just did Looper, because it's so original and breathtakingly cool. The time-travel aspect is just a backdrop to visit this heightened world, where you're atoning for something and attempting to be more than you've been."

Well, Ms Marvel as the lead in her own movie would totally attract any actress, even Blunt. Or Ruth Wilson.

Wilson was part of the initial rumors on Ms Marvel in October 2012 from the The Daily Mail, and her stock is rising from her stint with "Luther." However, she lags behind Blunt in terms of star power. However, as Celluloid and Cigarette Burns would contend: "I wouldn't rule out Ruth Wilson considering she's closely worked with both Thor alumni Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba, but Blunt is currently my favorite for the role."

Yvonne Strahovski was not officially attached to the part, and her connection was primarily from a fan site called Strahotski.com. Still, no one is officially attached and no one is officially ruled out yet.
