INFINITE's tallest member recently celebrated his birthday, and fans sent his hashtag to the top of Twitter's Worldwide Trends.

Fans of K-Pop are very dedicated, and it is a common sight to see messages to idols trending worldwide on Twitter. However, on August 26, fans of INFINITE's Sungyeol battled it out with One Direction fans in order to trend their birthday wishes.

Even though the One Direction member Liam's birthday is on August 29, One Direction fans began trending the hashtag #happybirthdayliam on August 26, around the time that it became midnight August 26 in South Korea.

However, August 27 is the 23^rd (24^th in Korea) birthday of INFINITE's member Sungyeol, and INFINITE's fanclub Inspirit started to trend two hashtags, #24thYeolDay and #2성열4랑해- the Korean sounds for 2 and 4 sound like "Lee" and "Sa," making the message "Lee Sungyeol saranghae," or "I Love Lee Sungyeol."

The hashtag for Sungyeol's birthday began trending worldwide almost as soon as the clock struck midnight in South Korea, and quickly took over the One Direction hashtag. Both hashtags held onto the top places trending worldwide for some time, but as the Western Hemisphere woke up, news topics replaced them.

Sungyeol was born on August 27, 1991, and debuted as a member of INFINITE in 2010. He is currently starring in the drama High School - Love On, alongside fellow INFINITE member Woohyun. INFINITE is in the middle of promoting its song, Back.
