Miley Cyrus' VMA Date Jesse Helt Has Arrest Warrant; Pop Superstar Defends Friend On Twitter

All eyes and ears were on Miley Cyrus' VMA date Jesse Helt, more so when the latter accepted the pop star's award in her behalf. Helt, as his speech said, is a homeless person, but reports now claim that he has a standing arrest warrant.

According to ET Online, the homeless young man who accepted Miley Cyrus' VMA moon man, Jesse Helt, has an arrest warrant for failing to follow through his probation.

Miley Cyrus' VMA date Jesse Helt was reportedly charged with criminal trespass in 2011 but failed to report for his probation and submit necessary documents for the case resulting to a warrant of his arrest being issued.

Helt's acceptance of the award was a poignant moment that garnered the attention of millions. "I have survived at shelters all over the city," he said. "I have been an extra in your movies. I have been an extra in your life. Though I have been invisible in your life, I have the same dreams as many [of you]."

While the media is all eyes on Helt, Cyrus took to her Twitter account to share her thoughts about the news about her "friend."

"The media never fails to disappoint. You've chosen to go after Jesse instead of covering the issue of youth homelessness," the "Wrecking Ball" singer wrote.

In another tweet, Cyrus urged people to veer away from the issues involving Helt and instead make a donation for all the homeless youth in America.

"While they [obsess] over one homeless mans legal issue lets help the other 1.6 million homeless youth," the singer wrote, with a link to a contest she is holding for fans.

According to Oregon Live, Cyrus gave Helt tickets to travel back to his hometown of Oregon. Linda Helt, Jesse Helt's mother, is reportedly happy not only to see her son but also for the attention that is being given to him.

"He was at the right place at the right time," she said. "It's time for him to have some good luck. He needs to be blessed."
