Guns N’ Roses Reunion 2014: Slash Says It’s Not In The Cards! Duff McKagan Performs With Axl And Slash Separately; Will GnR Bassist Be The Key?

The highly anticipated Guns N' Roses reunion is still a tough call. Slash is not changing his firm stance. But recently Duff McKagan, Guns n' Roses original bassist performed with Slash after performing touring with Axl! Could he become the glue that brings them together?

Slash spoke in a radio interview with WAAF station in Massachussets and it was transcribed by Blabbermouth.net:

How about a movie biography?

Slash: "I hope they never do that. The thing about rock movies is that they never give the reality of rock and roll, they never do it justice, it always turns out to be a parody. Even the best rock movies are laughable. [Unless they're intended to be a parody] and then they're funny. 'Spinal Tap' was great, but I think 'Spinal Tap' got under everybody's skin and we haven't been able to get rid of it since. But very few rock movies are really credible. So when you're doing a story like that, artistic license and so on, it makes me very nervous."

On the nagging question of a Guns N' Roses reunion.

Slash: "It's a subject I just avoid. 'Cause I've tried all different approaches on this particular subject. The thing is it's been dead in the water since 1996. I'm not gonna joke about it. Anything I ever said that led anybody to believe that there might be any kind of a reunion was just me being nice. No one's ever considered it. It's not really in the cards. And the thing with the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was that was the closest we got to it, or could have gotten to it, and it didn't happen. And I said, 'You know what?! Let's just close the books. That was a very public event, and hopefully everybody gets it.'"

Recently, Duff McKagan went on a tour with Axl Rose and people perceived that as one step toward a possible full-on reunion. Duff recently performed on stage with Slash, proving the lead guitarist was cool with Duff supporting Axl. Is that a ray of hope?

Not so fast. Performing with Slash actually reminded Duff of Velvet Revolver more than Guns N' Roses. He tells Rocksquare:

"You know, that band was so good and really started with all the right intentions and we wrote a lot of material near the end of that band," he said. "We kind of got really free musically and so we've got all this material and it's a really talented band. I think, you know, that's a band, when it's the right time to happen again, it'll happen."

Doors are never closed while they're still alive, but Slash would not encourage knocking.
