'Jumanji' Remake 2014 Still Going Forward Despite Robin Williams Death; Columbia Pictures' Movie Will Not Be A Sequel To The Original Film

Jumanji Remake 2014 is a go? Columbia Pictures has announced that they are developing a new film adaptation to the award-winning children's game board book in 1981.

Douglas Belgrad, one of the bosses from Columbia made the announcement during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying that the idea is to "try and reimagine 'Jumanji' and update it for the present."

Zack Helm has been reported to pen the remake while Matt Tolmach and Bill Teitler are tapped to produce the planned project.

Chris Van Allsburg's illustrated book, following the story of an adult who was trapped in the world of the mysterious board game was previously adapted as a movie on 1995, where it starred the late Robin Williams together with the then young Kirsten Dunst, directed by Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III and Captain America).

While, there has been no official cast announced for the planned Jumanji remake this 2014, the sudden passing of original cast, Robin Williams may have an effect to the upcoming planned film. However, no words from the studio have been reported as of press time.

This could either jumpstart the proposed project or scrapped it all together. We'll keep you posted.

Williams, whose great job from the original film has helped "Jumaji" earned $263 million in theaters, 63-years-old at the time of his death reportedly committed suicide due to depression.

Meanwhile, 'Guardians of the Galaxy' cast Karen Gillan, is now being rumored to be included in the Jumanji remake line-up.

The 28-year-old Scottish actress dropped a hint on her Twitter account, posting an image of the board game with this caption:

"Things are really happening for me," Gillan tweeted.
