'Transformers' 5 Release Date Confirmed! Michael Bay And Mark Wahlberg Say Goodbye To The Franchise? Optimus Prime Not Returning Too?

Transformers 5 release date has been set on 2016. Paramount has announced the fifth installment to the giant-robot themed franchise according to Channel24's article.

It has been previously revealed by director Michael Bay that Transformers: Age of Extinction is going to pave way for two more films.

"It's kind of like a new Transformers," Bay explained. "We had three, the first trilogy, and this is going to be the next one." The next...trilogy? "Yeah, it's the first of a new trilogy," he admitted after shortly hesitating. "I'm not necessarily sure that I'm doing [the others], but that's what it's meant for."

It's not yet confirmed if Bay would be back to doing Transformers 5 that is due for release on 2016.

Fans of the giant transforming robot themed movie were shocked when an article fromNationalReport.net, a satire publication stated that Michael Bay would return to direct Transformers 5 and that he'll kill Optimus Prime to be replaced by "Rodimus Prime" to lead the autobots.

The satire article read:

Title: Michael Bay On Transformers 5: "Optimus Dies, Rodimus Rules."

"Pressed for more details Bay revealed this:"Optimus Prime has served his time. He is old news. He dies heroically in battle, but it is time for leadership to be passed on to a new generation. We will be introducing a new Autobot known as Hot Rod. He is young and hip and sometimes doesn't think things through, just like Bumblebee. But he will have to learn how to lead what remains of the Autobots against Galvatron and his army of Decepticons."'

"Shocked by the huge scoop that I had just received, I pressed a little further. In the latest movie, It is hinted that Optimus Prime left Earth to find his maker's. Does he find them before he dies?

"Oh yeah, of course. That's where the movie starts. Prime makes it to the creators known as the Quintessons. They are less than pleased to see him and well I can't give you the whole movie. But that is where he meets Hot Rod who later becomes Rodimus Prime." said Bay."

While, the article was a complete hoax "Rodimus Prime" could very well make an appearance to the highly anticipated Transformers 5 sequel but that doesn't necessarily mean that Optimus Prime would die in the upcoming film.

The Inquisitor reports that three new robots are going to be added in the lineup following the results of fan poll in an alleged Transformers Facebook page, namely Unicron, Vector Prime and Rodimus Prime.

In addition, human casting rumors include the return of two original cast members Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox.

Fox, who will appear in Bay's upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 movie as April O'Neil, expressed her delight in returning for the upcoming Transformers 5 movie during her interview with MoviePilot.com.

"I'm not sure if I'll return. As long as things are good between everyone and Shia returns with me I'd like to see us partner up with the new cast like a crossover."

Shia on the other hand, seemed doubtful about it saying:

"It would be good to do another film but I doubt with the new changes since the third film that Megan could return you know, it might be a love war if me or Rosie both return you know its not that i don't think about it." He adds, "But no, I highly doubt I'll be back for another one. I'll do another Michael Bay film but not Transformers."

While, Transformers: Age of Extinction gained box office success, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura remains tight lipped about the details of the fifth sequel, telling Screenrant:

"It's an exhausting process to make these movies. The scale of them is so enormous. It really does tax everybody and our tendency is to finish one at a time, recover, and then begin talking."
