Jennifer Lawrence Leaked Nude Photos Update: 'Hunger Games' Actress Confirms Photos, Internet Lobbies Behind Lawrence And Calls Leak A 'Sex Crime'

Yesterday, after a massive alleged leak of multiple actresses nude photos, Jennifer Lawrence representatives have confirmed that the photos are indeed of her. The subject of invasion of privacy in our technological age continues to be an issue, but thankfully, most of the internet seems to be in support of the Academy Award winning actress. They are even going to the extent of calling it a sex crime, all the shame belonging to the hacker and not Lawrence.

A few hours after the initial leak, Variety reported that, "A spokesperson for Lawrence confirmed the photos were real and blasted the hackers for their ‘flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence," her representative warned. Assuming that Lawrence can certainly afford the means to prosecute the anonymous hacker, here's hoping they catch the guy.

But another incentive to catch the hacker is surfacing across the coverage of the incident. The other incentive is that it could potentially change the way in which society thinks about leaked (stolen) nude photos. Specifically, the thought moves from being personal responsibility of the photographer and moves to those who are doing the ‘leaking' (stealing).

In fact, this might explain why a good amount of social media and even news sources support Lawrence rather than blame her for not being responsible with her photos. According to Forbes, "Ms. Lawrence and the other victims have absolutely nothing to apologize for in terms of the contents of the photos or the nature in which they were leaked. The story itself should not be addressed as if it were a scandal, but rather what it is: A sex crime involving theft of personal property and the exploitation of the female body."

Furthermore, the comments on Jezebel express mostly sympathy and support for Lawrence, one user stating, "All this proves to me is that pretty much EVERYONE takes nudes at some point and it's not something that should be used to shame them."

It would seem that aside from the NSFW users of 4chan, Jennifer Lawrence doesn't have to worry about the photos tarnishing her image.
