Jennifer Lawrence Leaked Nude Photos Updates: Claims Made About Hack Weeks Prior, Alleged iCloud Hack, And Harkening Back To Christopher Chaney 2011 Hack

By now it is no secret that Jennifer Lawrence, amongst a few other actresses including Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kirsten Dunst, recently experienced the horror of having their private photos uploaded to the internet. For those who aren't that tech savvy, here are the current working theories as to how those photos got out, and some speculation on what the hacker can expect if he's caught.

Since Jennifer Lawrence's representatives have already announced that they will be investigating and plan to press charges, for the safety of ones own privacy, you may have started wondering how can someone's personal cell phone photos be hacked. Deadspin has a few theories as to how this may have happened to the "Hunger Games" actress.

The first is that this may be a repeat of the past. "It's possible, and perhaps likely, that he (or they) went at these phones with sheer brute force." By this, they mean that the phones in question were accessed directly, and, Jennifer Lawrence's personal accounts may be under some kind of monitoring. Or, it was someone who knows her (and the other actresses) and has physical access to the cell phones or computers the photos were stored on.

The second, and admittedly less likely theory, is that it involves cloud storage. In the original forum on 4chan containing the photos there had already been discussion that the photos came through a hack into Apple's iCloud service. Recently, there has also been a theory about Dropbox according to one Twitter user.

The most interesting theory surrounding the leak has to do with a tip that Deadspin received a few weeks prior to the leak. The tip involved a person explaining to Deadspin that the alleged hacker had contacted him personally with an offer for photos in exchange for naked pics of his girlfriend. This tipster has since disappeared.

Nevertheless, it doesn't look good for the hacker if he's caught. (Some Reddit users have pointed to one person but this person has denied it). In a similar situation involving leaked photos of Scarlett Johannson and Christina Aguilera, the perpetrator, Christopher Chaney, was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Luckily for Jennifer Lawrence something like this was resolved before with an arrest, so maybe the authorities can go two for two against celebrity hackers.
