2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Andray Blatche To Miami? Former Brooklyn Star Playing Well For Philippines In FIBA World Cup!

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions is filling up the final slots on the rosters. One player that was surprisingly still a free agent is Andray Blatche, last seen on the Brooklyn Nets.

Andray Blatche is currently playing with Gilas Pilipinas-the Philippine basketball team in the FIBA World Cup as its naturalized player. Blatche agreed to be the import for the Filipinos, who are known as gritty and passionate but sorely lacking in size.

The former five star prospect from high school is taking a risk as he does not have a guaranteed contract with any NBA team yet. His stint in the World Cup actually serves as an audition and he has been doing well.

Blatche has always been known as a talented player but he is somewhat of a head case. However, he seems to be very focused on leading the Philippines-who is arguably the shortest team in the tournament, against the best teams in the World. He played against taller opposition versus Croatia and Greece averaging double figures in points and rebounds.

Will that be enough to convince NBA teams to give him another chance?

The Miami Heat are definitely watching and at the very least, Blatche's play has them intrigued.

From NBC Sports:

"Blatche is playing - well and amusingly - in the World Cup for the Philippines right now. This is essentially an audition for him. Perhaps Miami has moved on from players of his profile, but Blatche certainly has the most upside of the group. That's always difficult to turn down."

From the Miami Herald: "The Heat also has inquired about 6-11 free agent center Andray Blatche, who has a home here."

While the Miami Heat does not have the fortitude to gamble on head cases anymore (they already gave up on Michael Beasley), Blatche is one of the most talented big men left in the free agent market. The Heat may well consider him.
