In an interview with Yahoo! Sports, the 27-year-old Serbian admitted that Jelena is not here in the US Open 2014 with him. He didn’t clarify why, spurring all sorts of speculation about the couple’s state after their August wedding.

"My wife is not here. I haven't seen her for a while,” Novak Djokovic said, “I just see stomach is growing on Skype and Facetime, but I want to spend some time with her."

It looks like the pregnancy is keeping his wife at home while he competes for this year’s US Open championship!

The separation seemed to have affected the Serb earlier in the hard court season. He underperformed at Rogers Cup as well as Cincinnati Open this year, very uncharacteristic of Novak Djokovic. The speculations were that the Wimbledon champion was distracted by his recent wedding to his pregnant girlfriend Jelena Ristic.

But the world number one is back on the hard courts of the US Open 2014. He beat Philipp Kohlschreiber in a trying, but straightforward three-set match and looks to also beat Andy Murray in the upcoming quarterfinals.
