YG Entertainment Confirms New Boy Group iKON Before Rumored Girl Group Pink Punk

YG Entertainment fans waiting for the rumored girl group Pink Punk will have to wait a bit longer, after an announcement on Tuesday by the record label's CEO and co-founder Yang Hyun Suk.

On September 2, the YG Entertainment founder announced the debut of another boy group after the recent debut of WINNER. Named iKON, the group will reportedly debut on the talent survival program "Mix & Match."

"Instead of iCON, I replaced the C with K to represent K-pop," said Yang Hyun Suk during a press conference for "Mix & Match." "I hope iKON will become a group that represents Korea."

In addition, the group will consist of three members from Team B, the boy group which lost to WINNER on the survival program "Who is Next: WIN."

"Team B's leader B.I, Bobby, and Kim Jin Hwan are already fixed members," elaborated Yang Hyun Suk. "The system will feature the other 6 who will compete with 2 being eliminated."

With the group reportedly set to debut next year, this could mean the rumored upcoming YG girl group-which has been making headlines since 2012-will not debut for at least another year.

"Where is that girl group though," asked Lovetolovekpop on allkpop.

"Come on YG," commented Gabriel Luna on YouTube. "These girls need to debut soon. With nine members and a badass name, they will be the greatest group in the world!"

Tentatively codenamed Pink Punk, the YG trainees who are rumored to be a part of this mysterious girl group include Kim Jennie, Kim Ji Soo, Jang Hanna, Lalice Manoban, Park Jinny, Park Chae Young, Cho Mi Yeon, Kim Eun Bi, and possibly a ninth member named Lee Jookyung.

Meanwhile, the male YG Entertainment trainnes who will be featured in "Mix & Match" will cinlude B.I., Bobby, Kim Ji Hwan, Song Yoon Hyung, Kim Dong Hyuk, Goon Joon Hee, and three new trainees named Jung Jim Hyung, Jung Chan Woo and Yang Hong Seok.

"Mix & Match" premieres September 11 KST.
