TVXQ Writes K-pop History In Japan Once Again

Boy group TVXQ has written K-pop history once again.

The idol group's most recent DVD LIVE TOUR 2014 TREE, ranked No. 1 on the Oricon Weekly DVD Chart, topping the music chart for the seventh time, according to the Korean publication Osen.

The DVD, which was released on August 27, sold 104,000 copies in its first week of sales. TVXQ ranked No. 1 on the chart for their past five DVDs, according to Allkpop.

The duo will be celebrating their 10th anniversary with a 5-dome tour in Japan, launching their concerts in Fukuoka on February 7, 2015 and then move onto Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagoya and Osaka for a total of 12 performances.

TVXQ have proven themselves to be true artists, evident from their recent accomplishment, as they jumped over the musical limitations that idol members often face.

"I don't want to be identified by just one musical color. We want to embrace several different genres of music since we plan to continue our career in the music industry. Wouldn't that be a characteristic of a true musician? I'm not sure what type of changes will occur in the future, but we plan to continue our efforts to broaden our musical horizon. It will be our never-ending homework," explained member Changmin.

TVXQ, which now consists of Yunho and Changmin, was once a five-member group with JYJ members Yoochun, Junsu and Jaejoong.

The trio filed a lawsuit against their then-label SM Entertainment for what they claimed was an unfair contract, according to the publication Asia One.

Although fans were heart-broken by the group's separation, both groups have gone on to flourish in the Korean pop industry.

"As time goes by, I questioned myself. . .  What was all that for? Each of us made own own choices for our lives. I no longer hate them, I hope we all could be happy," explained former member Yoochun.

The singer added, "I hope the five of us can do well in our position. I don't know when, but it would be cool if all of us could come together to drink soju."
