North American Anime And Manga Updates: ‘Baka And Test,’ ‘Blood Lad,’ ‘Bleach,’ And ‘One Piece’ English Releases Coming This September

North American otakus rejoice as the newest anime and manga releases were announced today. Highlights among the anime releases include "Baka And Test" season one and two DVD box sets, and "Blood Lad" series DVD and Blu-ray collections. In terms of manga, both "One Piece" and "Bleach" will release their newest volumes in official English translations.

Anime News Network released their list of upcoming anime and manga releases and it's oddly filled with titles starting with the letter ‘B.' First up is popular comedy series, "Baka and Test," which currently has two new S.A.V.E. edition box sets for season one and two. Funimation describes the series: "Yoshii's a good-hearted goofball enrolled at a school where students settle their differences by summoning Avatars, pint-sized stand-ins with battle powers based on academic ability. That ‘academic ability' part is bad news for idiotic Yoshii - he's stuck in lowly Class F with the slackers. If these misfits want to escape their dump of a classroom and earn some respect, they'll have to fight their way up the ranks and take on Class A, the brightest students on campus."

Meanwhile, Viz Media will be releasing the full length series box-sets for "Blood Lad," available on both DVD and Blu-ray. "Blood Lad" is considerably darker than "Baka and Test" as it involves the "toughest vampire in the demon world" but as with most anime, there's still room for some comedy. This comes in the form of a human girl named Fuyumi, who Staz (the tough vampire) vows to save. Both box sets are currently available for purchase on Viz Media's official website.

In the unmoving picture world of manga, Viz Media will also release the newest volumes of "Bleach" and "One Piece" today. There's a couple of new volumes in the "Bleach" release and one new volume of "One Piece." While fans may have already read online scans, it's always nice to have a hard copy, which will also be available today.

Fall anime and manga releases are fully underway, and it will only continue to get more exciting as both Funimation and Viz Media plan for more simultaneous releases with Japan.
