ZE:A's Kevin Denies Nasty Nasty Is Like Trouble Maker: 'We Would Like To Show Our Own Unique Sexiness'

When ZE:A vocalist Kim Ji Yeop, known to fans simply as Kevin, formed his new group Nasty Nasty, with singers Kyungri of Nine Muses and her labelmate So Jin, it was originally supposed to be a solo project.

He decided to make it a trio.

And though Nasty Nasy's sexy image drew inevitable comparisons to Trouble Maker (the side project of Cube Entertainment artists Hyunseung of BEAST and HyunA of 4Minute), when they debuted last month, Kevin insists that the group has their own original style.

"I was preparing to make a solo debut, but in order to show a better combination and performance for the fans, I returned with a coed group," Kevin told eNEWS on Wednesday.

"We're being compared to Trouble Maker but we would like to show our own unique sexiness."

Yet, even the ZE:A singer himself was a bit taken aback by the risqué art direction in the first video teasers for Nasty Nasty.

"At first I was shocked to hear how the teaser was going be filmed," Kevin said.

"I've never really revealed so much skin before. But since our group has a totally different concept than others, I wanted to make it sexy. I was happy to be filming it with these sexy ladies."

The K-pop star also revealed the concept behind Nasty Nasty, as the songwriter Rado, who originally envisioned the trio, originally explained it to him.

"I was preparing to make a solo debut, but in order to show a better combination and give a performance to the fans, I returned with a coed group," he said. "Rado [said he wanted to form a band with] the three sexiest singers from Star Empire."

And with a group one-third the size of ZE:A, Kevin hopes that Nasty Nasty will be a better showcase for his talents.

"Since there are nine of us, it has been hard to show each member's unique colors," he said.

"Some people celebrate us, thanks to members like Yim Siwan, Hwang Kwanghee, Kim Dongjun and Park Hyungsik. But I wasn't able to really show my [ability]. I would like to do that through this project, Nasty Nasty."
