Katie Holmes Adds Feather To Her Cap As Director Of Movie Adaptation Of Book ‘All We Had’

Katie Holmes who is best known as the former wife of big star Tom Cruise, is adding the directorial feather in her cap.

Hollywood Reporter stated that Holmes is making her directorial debut with the film adaptation of the tearjerker book, 'All We Had.'

The report added that Holmes is also playing a role in the movie as one of its stars aside from co-producing it with Jane Rosenthal.

The book is authored by Annie Weatherwax, which debuted in August. According to Book.Simonand Schuster.com, the book is a heart-rending novel about a mother and daughter " living on the edge of poverty, who find an unlikely home amid the quirky residents of small town America."

Holmes, the reports said will be playing the mother while the actress playing the daughter is still unknown.

"Katie has such a clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship. Her passion for the material, along with Josh Boone's ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of every day, will truly bring these characters to life," said Rosenthal was quoted as saying in a statement.

The book must have really struck a chord in Katie, as she will be joining Hugh Jackman, Jay Z and Carrie Underwood and other stars in an upcoming event called the third annual Global Citizen Festival.

The event will raise awareness and encourage people to be "Global Citizens" working towards ending poverty by 2030.

The concert will be on the Great Lawn in Central Park Sept. 27.

Holmes was first known for her involvement in the Dawson Creek television hit in 1997 to 2003. Katie married 'Mission Impossible' series actor Cruise in 2006, the couple divorced in 2012, they have a daughter named Suri.

Meanwhile Katie and her daughter Suri are back in California after living in New York for a while.
