‘American Idol’ New York Welcomes Adam Lambert As Replacement For Keith Urban; Resident Judge Takes A Break To Grieve Death Of Nicole Kidman’s Father

It is confirmed that "American Idol" New York auditions will be welcoming Adam Lambert as a guest judge. Resident judge Keith Urban will be taking a break to grieve the death of Nicole Kidman's father.

"American Idol" confirmed the news through a Twitter post: "Adam Lambert will be serving as guest judge at the NY auditions. Our thoughts are with Keith and his family during this difficult time."

Fans cannot help but see how the "American Idol" winner will mentor the aspiring contestants of the show. In 2012, he already hinted about his desire to become a judge. "Where do I sign?" he previously joked Hollywood Reporter

The dates for the "American Idol" New York auditions are not yet announced but the "Sleepwalker" hit maker will surely be present in the newest season alongside Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.

Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman's husband has not yet issued a statement regarding his plans for "American Idol." Urban's father-in-law, Dr. Antony Kidman, passed away this weekend inside his hotel room in Singapore. He was in the country to visit his youngest daughter Antonia.

Heart attack is the possible cause although investigations are still ongoing. After being informed that his father-in-law died, Urban immediately cancelled his California gig.

"I'm so very sorry that I cannot perform this weekend. We are in a deep state of grief at the passing of Nic's Father and are heading to Australia to be with family. We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for their love, prayers and support through this devastating loss," he wrote on his Facebook page.
