Rafael Nadal At 80% After Missing Davis Cup, Considers Opening Tennis Academy With Girlfriend Maria Francisca Perello?

Rafael Nadal has been awfully quiet recently due to his wrist injury. His coach-slash-uncle Toni Nadal announced that the Spaniard is back at 80% after missing the Davis Cup. Not sure if that’s a good or bad news. But it looks like his extensive time off has gotten Rafael Nadal thinking about the future, which may include opening a tennis academy in his hometown with his girlfriend Maria Francisca Perello.

Toni Nadal gave an injury update to a Spanish news channel.

"Rafa can currently hit his backhand at 80% of the power and condition,” coach Toni said, according to Tennis World, “but he will participate in the exhibition match in Astana and then we will fly together to Beijing and Shanghai. We will also be full time for the European indoor season, as we will play at Basel, Paris Bercy and the year ending championships in London"

Looks like the road to recovery is slow and painful for Rafa! But he has definitely invest back that time to think about the bigger picture and his future.

Rafael Nadal has been planning on opening a tennis academy and center in his hometown Manacor. With all the time off from his wrist injury, it looks like he and his uncle Toni has gotten some major work done.

Toni said: "Rafael wants to invest on his country, on his city in Manacor. After all, Bollettieri enjoyed great success with his academy, Rafa could do the same."

Maybe they plan to have his girlfriend (and most likely, his wife) Maria Francisca Perello operating the business side of things! She does have a degree in Business Administration after all!

To speed up his wrist injury recover, Rafa has been taking part in some intense training regimen, training till the sun goes down.

Maybe Nadal was feeling FOMO by all the Davis Cup fanfare. He had to forgo his participation this year due to his wrist injury. Damn that pesky wrist!
