Li Na Receives Cutest Retirement Congratulations From Rafael Nadal And Serena Williams: Spaniard Understands Chinese Player’s Injury Suffering

Rafael Nadal said congratulations to Li Na in the cutest way possible. The Spaniard totally seemed to understand Li Na’s suffering from her right knee injury. He also has been struggling with his wrist injury so her retirement due to the plaguing knee hit home for Rafael Nadal.

Rafael Nadal posted a cute picture of himself congratulation Li Na on her retirement and her amazing career.

He wrote, “Congratulations for your career and I wish you all the best in your new life. #LoveLi.” Li Na had a trailblazing career as a Asian and Chinese player. According to the WTA, the 32-year-old tennis player was the first Chinese to in a WTA title and to reach the top ten. She was the highest ranked Asian player to date. Most importantly, she was the first Asian player ever to win a Grand Slam tournament (Roland Garros 2011). Li Na posted a retirement statement on her Facebook early Friday. Here’s an excerpt: “After four knee surgeries and hundreds of shots injected into my knee weekly to alleviate swelling and pain, my body is begging me to stop the pounding. My previous three surgeries were on my right knee. My most recent knee surgery took place this July and was on my left knee. After a few weeks of post-surgery recovery, I tried to go through all the necessary steps to get back on the court. “While I’ve come back from surgery in the past, this time it felt different. One of my goals was to recover as fast as I could in order to be ready for the first WTA tournament in my hometown of Wuhan. As hard as I tried to get back to being 100%, my body kept telling me that, at 32, I will not be able to compete at the top level ever again. The sport is just too competitive, too good, to not be 100%. “Whether you want to be a tennis player, a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher or a business leader, I urge you to believe in yourself and follow your dream. If I could do it, you can too! Be the bird that sticks out. With hard work, your dreams will come true.” An inspiration to all tennis players, Li Na got a lot of messages from the top ranked plays in the field. Even Serena Williams and Sara Errani took part in the “#LoveLi” twitter fest.

Congrats to Li Na on her retirement and her amazing career!
