ZE:A Lee Hoo Pressures Star Empire To Make Positive Changes In Conditions For Group Through Twitter Rampage

Contract disputes and alleged unfair labor conditions are brought into focus once again, following a series of Tweets which directed at the CEO of Star Empire from ZE:A's Lee Hoo.

On September 21, ZE:A leader Lee Hoo (Moon Junyoung) began to deliver explosive comments via his Twitter account (@ZEA_leader) directed at Star Empire CEO Shin Joo Hak.

While it may have seemed unlikely, it appears as though Lee Hoo may have drawn enough attention to the conditions surrounding himself and ZE:A to make positive changes at Star Empire.

On September 22 KST, Lee Hoo began to issue Tweets stating that the members of ZE:A would be in control of the company. He also stated that the wage split would be 70 percent for ZE:A and 30 percent for Shin Joo Hak verses the previous distribution rate. He went on to state that the contract terms for ZE:A would be changed, altering their ten year plus non-negotiable contract.

Lee Hoo also thanked both fans and reporters for helping to sperad his story.

At print, Star Empire has not issued confirmation of this change.

Initally, the events leading to his Twitter rants were not apparent. However, it is now known that unfair wage distribution, contract terms, and severe injuries obtained during variety programs are at the heart of his unprecedented Twitter war against Shin Joo Hak.

He began his Twitter campaign by listing the shocking details regarding the recent injury of ZE:A's

Tae Heon. This caught the attention of both fans and the media.

His initial Tweets also hint at alleged abusive tactics from Shin Joo Hak, prompting many fans to draw attention to past behavior from Shin Joo Hak, including a scene from the critically acclaimed documentary "9Muses of The Star Empire" in which he smacks 9Muse's member Sera. It should be noted that corporal punishment tactics such as smacking employees, is not uncommon in Korea.

While the root of his anger at Shin Joo Hak may be the injury of his group mate, as well as his own, financial disputes have also been brought to light.

In this sense, Lee Hoo follows in the foot steps of artists like former EXO Kris, Han Geng and JYJ who have either been outspoken with allegations of unfair wages or contracts. Like the members of JYJ, Lee Hoo calls out an alleged extended contract from Star Empire, which are commonly known as slave contracts. However, it is not yet known whether he was seeking legal action to address this issue and unfair conditions.

Lee Hoo has also stated that he will reveal documents which could shed a new light on perceptions regarding Star Empire and its Shin Joo Hak.

It should be noted that as of print, CEO Shin Joo Hak has not personally addressed the allegations made by Lee Hoo.

Lee Hoo's Twitter tirade appears to be sparked by Tae Heon's MMA injury.

Lee Hoo started off his inflamatory Tweets with remarks directed at Tanaka, the Japanese athlete who injured ZE:A's Tae Heon in a MMA match. Lee Hoo noted the fact that Tanaka is a professional athlete who was assigned to spar against Tae Heon, who was making his debut into fighting.

Lee Hoo then went to on to discuss an injury he obtained on the variety show "Dream Team." In May 2012, Lee Hoo sustained injury while filming the variety show. Star Empire indicated at the time, that the injury was obtained when he slipped and subsequently fell. Initially, the injury was reported as a minor ankle injury.

However, Star Empire went on to state that this injury would lead to a delay in the 2012 comeback for ZE:A. The translated quotes in this portion of the article are sourced from the initial story which was released by English outlet allkpop.

In his Tweets, Lee Hoo substantiates this by stating,I went onto KBS' 'Dream Team' and broke my leg. If I didn't have this metal pin in my leg."

During further Tweets in regard to his own injury translated by allkpop, Lee Hoo stated,"The Dream Team PD told me to come out, and my leg broke so I had to get metal pins, but in the broadcast, I had to say that I hurt myself practicing, right?"

These allegations against "Dream Team" and Star Empire, were made after Korean portals and sites began to remove information regarding his previous Tweets.

Previously, Lee Hoo pointed out that the match between Tanaka and Tae Heon was the final match for the athlete. Lee Hoo noted that as the leader of ZE:A and Tae Heon's friend, he requested that the match come to an end, but anyone was hurt. However, the match was being televised. Lee Hoo attributed the fact that the match was being televised for the fact that it was allowed to continue, regardless of the brutality.

In this initial series of Tweets, his underlying frustration appears to be at Tanaka and the management of Star Empire. He is also upset with himself for being unable to keep his fellow group mate from participating in an inbalanced match. In his Tweets, Lee Hoo repeatedly drives home the point that Star Empire disregarded the safety of its idols.

Lee Hoo began to issue cryptic messages on Twitter on September 15.

On September 15, Lee Hoo took to Twitter to address his concern regarding fellow ZE:A member Tae Heon, who was injured in a mixed martial arts (MMA) match. It was the debut match for Tae Heon, who had stated it was his dream to be an MMA fighter.

Lee Hoo expressed his concerns regarding his role as the leader of ZE:A and his inability to prevent

Tae Heon from being injured.

According to a translation in the online publication hellokpop, Lee Hoo stated, "I’ll disband the group and take care of Tae Heon at all costs." Prior to these strong words, Lee Hoo did note that the surgical procedure for Tae Heon was minor, involving resetting of his nasal bone.

This heartfelt concern then lead to a baffling Twitter exchange between a fan, in which Lee Hoo threatened to leave ZE:A stating, "Everybody please remember that today is the last day that I will be on the stage under ZE:A's name." However, Lee Hoo seemed like he had reconciled with the fan in question, with both parties deleting their inflamatory Tweets.

Beyond the allegations of injury and cover up, this is also a contract dispute.

After grabbing the attention of both fans and media, Lee Hoo Tweeted about the contract conditions of ZE:A including what was a 12 year contract with 2 years of military service, but was reduced to nine years. He Tweeted of an alleged wage split of 70 percent which went to the CEO verses 30 percent to be split by nine members of a group. Finally, he cited poor living conditions for his group.

Hopefully, change will come from his Tweets. The other members of ZE:A and Star Empire have yet to fully address the comprehensive amount of Tweets.

What do you think about this issue?

Will ZE:A be able to become their own company, following in the foot steps of Block B? Has the explotation of K-Pop idols gone too far and does this effect how you support idols?
