Lady Gaga And Tony Bennett Promote Jazz Album Cheek To Cheek; Lady Gaga: 'It's A Very Happy Time Of My Life'

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have been promoting their jazz album "Cheek To Cheek" and the pop superstar said that the minor transition to jazz is "a very happy time [her] life."

Containing several songs from the Great American Songbook, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett's album reportedly provides nothing but the best selection of jazz songs.

In an interview, Gaga shared how she feels about the status of her life lately. "I'm very centered now. I meditate a lot. I'm happy," said Gaga. "I am more sober than I've ever been. It's a very happy time in my life."

The "Applause" singer, who recently parted ways with her former manager, spoke about the record, saying: "The point of this album is not only to bring Tony and I together to collaborate, but to bring jazz to an entirely new audience."

"This is really about us giving jazz what it deserves, which is the utmost respect and utmost praise," she continued.

Gaga shared that her musical roots were jazz and had been singing the genre since she was 13. She described singing jazz as being "truer to [her] nature."

She continued to share how the shift had been comfortable to her. "Because so much of what I've done has been heavily Auto-Tuned or made very electronic to fit on the radio," Gaga opened. "But this is so much easier because I'm a rebel and this is really rebellious for me to say goodbye to pop for a moment and just sing some pure jazz."

While the singer has been vocal about her jazz inclinations, many still asked if she can, indeed, sing jazz.

While Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have previously collaborated on a jazz single, Ted Gioia of The Daily Beast asked "Can Lady Gaga Sing Jazz?" The jazz critic wrote: "Can she interpret the works of George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, and Cole Porter with plausibility? Above all, can she trade phrases with Tony Bennett - and not get left in the dust? The answer is, somewhat to my surprise: Yes, she can."

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett's duet album had been released on September 20.
