Did ‘Gangnam Style’ Singer PSY Move To Shanghai?

Korean pop singer PSY has been absent from the spotlight since his track "Hangover," which was released earlier in the summer.

The artist returned to the stage last Friday at the opening of the 17th Asian Games held at Incheon with a performance of his viral hit "Gangnam Style," according to the publication India Times.

PSY was reportedly seen walking the red carpet before he performed for the 13,000 competitors from 45 countries that joined the ceremony.

After the release of "Hangover," K-pop fans have been waiting for the 36-year-old to release new material.

Earlier this summer, PSY had told CNN, "Although I cannot say at this moment who I collaborated with this past year [for an upcoming EP], what I can tell you is that I worked with some big name artists!"

There had been reports that PSY would be releasing the "fun, dance single" titled "Daddy" in August, according to Billboard; however, the track has yet to drop.

The "Gangnam Style" hitmaker was spotted with family in Shanghai, which has sparked speculation that he may have plans to move to China, according to the Korean publication Naver.

PSY is reportedly traveling back and forth between China and Korea so he can learn Chinese and study the Chinese culture. Korean news outlets have reportedly denied rumors of PSY's move to Shanghai.

PSY has an extensive fan base in China, even being recognized as the most talked about artist on China's Twitter, Weibo. The singer was mentioned over a 100,000 times on the social media site.

"PSY himself was the person who created the 'Gangnam Style' syndrome all over the globe. It is only natural that we let him do what he wants...rather than analyzing the 'mega-viral' formula of his previous songs and forcing himself to create another one like it, doing what he wants to do now is the answer," stated YG Entertainment's CEO Yang Hyun Suk.
