T-ARA Becomes First K-Pop Group To Sign With A Chinese Management Company

Girl group T-ARA are breaking into the Chinese entertainment industry.

The six-member idol group is the first K-pop group to sign a contract with a Chinese management company and is expected to increase sales for the agency, according to the Korean publication Osen Entertainment.

"T-ARA's Chinese management agency, Long Jun, and the members of the group held a signing ceremony on September 5," T-ARA's Korean management company, Core Contents Media, announced in a statement today.

The members of T-ARA will officially begin promoting themselves in China after another signing ceremony is held on October 13 at 2PM KST. The all-female group will be making an appearance on various Chinese programs on MTV and is expected to hold concerts, star in Chinese dramas and get involved in endorsement deals.

T-ARA's break into the Chinese entertainment industry is reportedly expected to go smoothly, as the group already has a solid fan base in the country due to the popularity of their recently released track "Sugar Free." The group ranked NO. 1 on China's popular music video site, YinYueTai, with the music video for their hit single.

T-ARA has released six remixes of "Sugar Free" thus far, both in English and Korean, according to the music magazine Billboard. The English version is a part of a new remix album titled "EDM Club Sugar Free Edition," which was reportedly released on Wednesday with 16 tracks.

"Sugar Free" stands at NO. 4 on Billboard's World Digital Songs while their new EP "And & End" is ranked at NO. 12 on the World Albums charts.

The idol stars have been busy promoting "Sugar Free" as of late, performing on various Korean music programs and appearing on Tuesday's episode of the variety program "Weekly Idol," according to the media outlet Allkpop.

Aside from their music, T-ARA has also been making headlines as news of member Soyeon's relationship with fellow idol member Oh Jong Hyuk surfaced.

"We don't even have time to meet each other. The both of us are so busy with work and we respect each other's work because we can't cause a disturbance. We try to split our time as best as possible to see each other sensibly. There are even cases when we see each other for just ten minutes," explained Soyeon.
