Pamukkale is a spectacular place located in southwestern Turkey. In Turkish it means "cotton castle". The famous pools are made of terraces of carbonate minerals, filled with warm, milky-blue water. Pamukkale has been used as a natural bathing spot for centuries. The water in these natural pools comes from the hot springs, so the water for baths is always warm and filled with minerals. UNESCO declared it a World Heritage in 1988.
