Star Trek 3 Cast: 'Original Captain Kirk' William Shatner Joins The Movie Confirmed As J.J. Abrams Had Called Him About A Role! What Did He Say?

The new Star Trek movie might be featuring, William Shatner who played Captain James T. Kirk in the original '60s series and movies along with Leonard Nimoy. The new Star Trek will mark the 50th anniversary of the science fiction entertainment franchise.

To deny the rumor, Shatner took to Twitter although Roberto Orci, Star Trek 3/Star Trek 13's co-writer and director of the series preferred to avoid making any statements in this regard leaving a lot of room for varying interpretations and assumptions by fans.

William Shatner said he was contacted by J.J. Abrams about the 2016 film, part of a restarted big-screen series starring Chris Pine as his character. Abrams directed the first two movies and produced the third one which is steered by Roberto Orci.

83-year-old, Shatner while speaking to his fans at 2014 Wizard World Nashville Comic Con on Friday, said that earlier this month while he was visiting Australia, he received a call from Abrams who was in London filming Star Wars: Episode VII. Shatner said, he was informed that Orci "had an idea" which involved casaz third Star Trek film and asked him if he was interested.

A fan-made YouTube video revealed Shatner's response, "I said, 'Oh, yeah. If it is meaningful, because when Leonard was Spock...in that first movie, I said to Leonard, 'You know your role, when you go back in time and you're still old."

Shatner, in the above statement is referring to Leonard Nimoy, who played Mr. Spock, Kirk's right hand man. After playing Mr. Spock in the original series as well as movies, he repeated his role in the first Star Trek film (2009).

Shatner told Abrams, "So, it depends on what you do with the character, I'd be delighted."

He further stated that the producer swore him to confidentiality and he assured he wouldn't even his wife about it. As per Shatner when he returned from Australia, "it was all over the Internet."
