Parental Advisory: Thaitanium Are The Thai Kings Of Hip-Hop Who Are Setting Asia On Fire [Exclusive Interview]

Thaitanium is a powerhouse hip hop group who have been credited for delivering hip-hop to Thailand.

Considered a Thai-American group,Thaitanium has strong ties to New York City and the rap scene in the U.S. The group is unique in that all of the members either grew up in America or lived in the U.S. for an extensive period of time. However, Thaitanium maintains strong ties to Thailand which is reflected through songs like "Sud Kob Fah."

Thaitanium was founded in 2000 by members Khan, Way, and Day. In 2006, the trio added DJAYBUDDAH and Big Calo to the group and relocated the group from New York City to Thailand. As an acclaimed Heavy Hitter DJ, DJAYBUDDAH helps to fuel the beats of Thaitanium.

Since the formation of the group, Thaitanium has released more than five studio albums and has participated in numerous high profile events.

KpopStarz caught up with Thaitanium during the New York City stop of their "Wake Up" tour at S.O.B's.

During their video interview, Thaitanium introduced themselves, discussed their collaboration with Jay Park, and their performance for MTV World Stage.

In 2013,Thaitanium participated in the Korean music festival and industry showcase, MU:CON. Thaitanium was billed with Canadian duo The Airplanes Boys, who are managed by the same artist representation as Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion). A few months later, Thaitanium were contacted by Snoop's mangagement.

Snoop was interested in filming a music video in Thailand, which helped to open up a working relationship with Thaitanium.

During their time spent at a Phuket resort, Snoop Dogg and Thaitanium worked together to create “Wake Up (Bangkok City)” which was released on August 7, 2014.

"Wake Up (Bangkok City)" is an uncensored track featuring Snoop Dogg which was recorded during a four minute free style. 

On August 16, Thaitanium performed for MTV Asia’s event MTV World Stage in Malaysia. 2014 MTV World Stage also featured K-Pop male group Boys Republic, B.O.B, and Yuna.

In addition to their release with Snoop Dogg, Thaitanium also recently collaborated with AOMG’s Jay Park. Thaitanium was connected to Jay Park through DJAYBUDDAH.

Thaitanium’s Way is featured with Jay Park and LA rapper Nipsey Hustle on DJ Whoo Kid’s uncensored track “Shining Like I’m Las Vegas” for the “Air Asia” mixtape.

Thaitanium are currently in Japan to promote their upcoming Japanese release "Sukebe." "Sukebe" incorporates the languages of Japanese, English, and Thai to appeal to a global audience of listeners.

Thaitanium invites new audiences to join their social media presence of over two million followers, to learn more about upcoming releases from the group.
