Songpa Police Reportedly Proceed With Kim Hyun Joong Domestic Abuse Case Despite Ex-Girlfriend Dropping Charges

Although Kim Hyun Joong's ex-girlfriend reportedly withdrew the charges filed against him, the Songpa Police Office has submitted one of the four alleged domestic abuse charges to the prosecution office.

Reportedly, because Kim Hyun Joong admitted to one case of physical altercation between him and the ex-girlfriend, the police had the responsibility to send this as a bodily harm case to the prosecution office despite the withdrawal of charges.

"Among the four cases that were reported, the portion of the assault charges that Kim Hyun Joong acknowledged was forwarded to the prosecutors on September 29," read a statement by the police according to allkpop.

"Despite the [alleged] habitual assault, the three additional assault cases were forwarded with no right of arraignment."

On September 15, Kim Hyun Joong's legal rep revealed to Star News that the alleged charges against him will be dropped should the K-pop idol issue a formal apology. On the same day, an apology appeared on the idol's official website.

"I am really sorry for inflicting a lot of psychological and physical pain on the person whom I've trusted and loved and vice versa for two years through this act," wrote Kim Hyun Joong.

"I am ashamed that I behaved in a way I shouldn't have as a man. As everything in this incident was my fault, that person has no reason for receiving criticism. I apologize once again to that person, and I want to relay words of apology like this to that person's family and acquaintances."

"I hope, more than anything, that she will accept my apology and forgive me. Using this as an opportunity, I will work hard to become a bit more considerate and to live more healthily."
