Borderlands The Pre Sequel Release Date, Gameplay, New Trailer Explains Game, Achievements Announces DLC Season Pass, New Skill Tree Calculator Previews 4 Playable Character Classes [VIDEO]

"Borderlands The Presequel" release date is October 14, and 2K has been releasing tons of new information to get everyone excited about the newest instalment of the game. Here is everything we currently know about the game.

The most recent news is that the game has gone gold (they have finished work on it) ahead of the release date.Gearbox has just released a trailer featuring Nisha, and another featuring co-op gameplay which you can check out below.

Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced that the official skill tree calculator has just been launched. You can play around with it before deciding to commit to any particular character's play style. Also a new trailer explaining pretty much everything about the new game has been released, you can watch it below. It is hosted by Hammerlock, the gentleman archaeologist, and Torgue a character whose only volume is shout and is likely sexually aroused by explosions. Its a pretty funny/ creative trailer/ preview.

Like Borderlands 2's Season Pass, the Pre-Sequel will cover four add-on packs, each consisting of new missions, characters and challenges. Each will cost $9.99 purchased individually, but the Season Pass offers a 25 per cent savings with a price of $29.99.

Pre-orders for the Pre-Sequel at participating retailers will come with the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit bonus content. This isn't included in the Season Pass, but will be available for purchase at a later date.

The story will be set in between the event of "Borderlands" and "Borderlands 2" and will focus on Handsome Jack's decent into madness. It also will be set on Pandora's moon, Elpis, so expect lots of low gravity jumping type of action.

There is a whole new cast of playable vault hunters. You have Athena, the rogue assassin whose kinetic Aspis shield can absorb energy and which allows her to throw it back. She's got a triad of skill trees that allows her to branch out in to different focuses; buffing her shield, creating electric storms and one that gives her particularly blade-focused melee damage buffs

Wilhelm, (who you may remember from Borderlands 2 (because you blew him up)) functions as your commander, and he has two drones that help him in battle and recharge his shields. His action skill is called Wolf and Saint, and allows him to summon two drones that aid in battle, and help him recharge his shields respectively. His branching skill trees allow him to focus on either of the drones, or on augmenting his own body. Obviously by the events of "Borderlands 2" this gets out of controll, as Wilhelm is just a robot by then.

Nisha the Lawbringer is the closest to the Gunzerker, with an action skill called Showdown that lets her go all Clint Eastwood and mow down everything with her dastardly pistol. With an action skill called Showdown she can unleash a hail of bullets with her pistol. With the right skills, she can permanently dual wield guns too, not to mention the melee whip. Unlike Gunzerker she will be something of a low health player that deals tons of damage.

The last hunter is the universally loathed Claptrap. Whos skills have been described as essentially random, and as likely to hurt the team as help them. His action skill, VaultHunter.exe, runs a random program that changes how things work. You get a random Action Package from a roulette wheel of fun based on the situation, that infers weird bonuses that can help or hinder, like making everyone throw grendades all the time or turning off gravity momentarily.

Shack News got some hands on time with the game and had this to say about it, "The usual antics of shooting and looting are still intact, and the introduction of "moon physics" add a nice new twist to the game."

"What's new about Borderlands the Pre-Sequel is its moon setting. Since you're bouncing around on the planet, you actually have new physics that need mastering, such as "lunar jumps" in certain areas that can give you some much-needed velocity. In some situations, you'll also need to access oxygen stations, even if you're playing as the robotic Claptrap."

"As for the gameplay, it's vintage Borderlands through and through. Weapons still work as commonplace as they should, with enemies taking "critical hits" in certain spots and some guns acting better than others. The laser cannon, for instance, is ideal for frying larger "big-bads" in the station, leaving room for the others to be mowed down with typical assault cannons. As always, you can mix and match however you please, effectively becoming a force of one. Or four, if you feel like playing in co-op. (Yes, it's back.)"

So things are shaping up to be pretty interesting, especially the whole low gravity, no oxygen elements, which could enhance what is already delightfully frantic gameplay of "Borderlands" Again the "Borderlands Pre Sequel" release date is October 14. Check back for more information as we get closer to the release date. In the meantime check out the "Moon Dance" and Claptrap trailers.
